Sin

Romans 3:9-18
"What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. As it is written: There is non righteous, no, not one; there is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one. Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit; The poison of the asps is under their lips; Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; Destruction and misery are in their ways; And the way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes."

These verses are so powerful! Especially when you substitute'me' and 'my' for 'they' and 'their'. This is what I was before I accepted Christ into my heart. How humbling is that?? It's mind blowing to actually see how full of sin you were. And even still are! But by the grace of God I am saved! I am washed white by His precious blood that He shed for me. When I was weak, He was strong and that will never change.

Romans 5:6-8
"For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

He was perfect. Without sin. And yet He came so that we might have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) We were dead to God, but through Jesus we have been raised to a life. An abundant life.

Ephesians 2:1-5
"And you he made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ouselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)."

God, You have loved us with a never ending love. Help us to grasp that each day and know that You predestined us for something great. As you tell us, we know that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. We are sinners but You have given us the gift of Your son! How could we ask for anything more? Let us remember to whom we are indebted. We love you.
